Dear GracePoint Family,
Overcoming
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” – James 1:12
George Meuller said, “Nine-tenths of the difficulties are overcome when our hearts are ready to do the Lord’s will, whatever it may be.” It is an inevitable fact of life that we all face obstacles in our lives. No matter how small or how seemingly insurmountable they may be, obstacles, trials, are a part of life. Joshua faced a really big obstacle when God told him to take the city of Jericho. The walls surrounding the city were daunting, some might have even said impenetrable. But Joshua, as Meuller suggests above, was willing to do exactly what the Lord said! He listened to God and followed His instructions, even though they may have seemed a little strange at the time, he followed. In Joshua chapter 6 we read that God gave Joshua a strategy to overcome the obstacle of Jericho’s walls. And what did Joshua do? He 1) Heard God’s Voice, then he 2) Heeded God’s Instruction, and third he 3) Had Confidence in God’s Promise!
Well, you know the rest of the story; Joshua and God’s people marched around the city. Day after day. Then on the seventh day they marched around and around and then blew the trumpets and shouted…. What seemed to be impenetrable became insignificant as God flattened the walls!
Consider this today, obstacles? Listen to the Lord, do what He says, and believe that He has ALREADY overcome! Trust Him… He deserves it!
In HIS Grace,
Pastor Ben
