For Christ will be King until he has defeated all his enemies, including the last enemy—death. This too must be defeated and ended. 1Corinthians 15:25-26 (TLB)

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (ESV)

Ah, Winning! It feels good doesn’t it?! Now everyone knows that I am unabashedly and unapologetically a Gamecock fan! So, needless to say, Saturday’s victory on the gridiron against Georgia felt oh so good! You Clemson fans… well let’s just say you should be getting bored with winning by now! (or not!) Needless to say, everybody likes to “win”.

Sometimes, however, it feels like when it comes to our culture and our society; our world as we know it. When it comes to our convictions as Christian. When it comes to a call to do good, to love unconditionally, to advance the cause of Christ, it doesn’t exactly feel like we are “winning” does it? BUT, let me remind you that the best is yet to come! Oh, it’s true that things in this world will get worse before it is all said and done, but, make no mistake about it, in Christ the battle has already been won! Look at the graphic above… HE HAS WON!

Jesus IS coming back in victory to put an end to all of this hatred and fighting and discord to take us all home to live with Him in Heaven!

So why should I worry, why should I fret? In Him I am always a winner! Thinking of the classic Christian song:

Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion

A constant friend is he
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches over me

I sing because I’m happy
I sing because I’m free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me.

Live expectantly, love freely, and do good!

In His Grace,

Pastor Ben
