What we believe

Here at GracePoint Church, we are committed to showing you that you are welcome here, and that you are loved, regardless of your past.

GRACE IS THE POINT

GracePoint Church was born in response to a need for a grace focus in the Greenville community. Founding members wanted every breathing person to see that Christ really does change everything by wiping away your past, regardless of what it is; in much the same way as God moved in the life of the Apostle Paul by completely changing his life from the extreme.

GracePoint is a family that lives to worship the Lord, and turn the world upside down with the grace of God!

PURPOSE

GracePoint Church is a loving fellowship of Believers, worshiping, working, serving, and growing together through the faithful preaching and teaching of the Bible, sharing life together as a family of God, and serving the community around us. We will welcome those who may feel unwelcome, love those who may feel unloved, and encourage the hopeless to look to Jesus for their Hope.

VISION

To be a community of Believers actively living as disciples of Jesus Christ in the freedom of His love and grace. We strive to see lives transformed, families strengthened, and the world changed for Him.

OUR MISSION

GracePoint Church exists to lead people to faith in Jesus, building disciples of Christ who will in turn build other disciples of Christ. (2 Timothy 2:2)

We are united in the truth of Scripture and in fellowship, serving others while sharing the gospel message of hope and forgiveness by practicing the “Great Commandment” of Mark 12:31 …‘You shall love The Lord your God… and your neighbor as yourself.’ And obeying the Great Commission of Mathew 28, to “make disciples of all the nations…”

WHAT WE BELIEVE

CHRIST-LIKENESS

We depend on the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and prayer to make us more like Jesus Christ who is the model of Christian love that we should follow in our daily lives.

“Love GOD above all Else”

“Love others as yourself”

TRUTH

We stand together in the truth of God’s Word, celebrating the faith once for all delivered to the saints, making the Bible our Spiritual guide for living our daily lives.

UNITY

We work together in love for the sake of the Gospel, we all serve in the Mercy of GOD and we Worship Him together in loving service to all those around us. Resolving any conflict in a Loving and Christ directed manner.

RELATIONSHIPS

We consider others more important than ourselves and we seek to “Feed God’s Sheep” as Christ and GOD’s word has directed us to do. “Loving Others as ourselves “. We seek to not be judgmental or legalistic in our beliefs and actions.

GRACE

We believe we are saved by grace and grace alone, forgiven of our sins by the sacrifice of Jesus the Messiah. We welcome all to Worship and Serve.

LOVE

We believe that God IS love, and His love for man is the foundation for His mercy and grace. God demonstrated His divine love for us when by His own will, and for the redemption of a sinful fallen man, chose to send His only begotten Son incarnate to earth to become the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

KINGDOM

We join other Christ-followers for the sake of the Gospel, the Kingdom of Christ, and the glory of God.

CORE BELIEFS

SCRIPTURES
We believe that the whole Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write every word of Scripture. The Bible is therefore without error (inerrant) in its original manuscripts. God has by His divine power preserved the Bible, and it is the sole and final authority for faith and life.

God
We believe there is one and only one living and true God. …The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

God the Father

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. …God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

God the Son
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. …He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin.

God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. …He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. …He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

The Holy Spirit fills (directs and controls) those who are yielded to Him, enables believers to bear fruit, and empowers believers to live a life free from sin’s dominion. We also believe that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers for the edifying of the church in accordance with the teachings of scripture.

Man
Man is the special creation of God, in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. …By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into humanity in that every person has since that time been born into sin except for Christ who was born of woman conceived by The Holy Spirit … The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Satan
We believe that Satan is the instigator of evil and a real spirit being, not simply the personification of evil. He is a fallen angel who, under the sovereign permission of God, has been given temporary rule of the earth. He was utterly defeated at the cross, but the execution of his judgment has been postponed by God until after the Millennial Kingdom when he will be cast into the eternal lake of fire. In the meantime, he deceives the world and seeks to establish his counterfeit kingdom on earth to discredit and blaspheme God and to tempt, accuse, attack and destroy believers. He can be resisted by the believer through faith and reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. Salvation is the gift of grace, and in its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification.

The Christian Life
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself and should, by the power of the indwelling Spirit, allow Christ to manifest His life through him to God’s glory. In the freedom of grace and by ever increasing obedience to the Word of God, each believer should mature and progressively become more like Jesus, intentionally sharing the gospel of Jesus with others and investing in others’ lives to do as Christ commanded in making disciples.

The Church
A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word and The Holy Spirit, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes under the leadership of the Pastor. The purpose of the church is to make Christ known to lost men and to make disciples, and glorify God on earth.
